FIELD TRIPS

Our farm is perfect for accredited school systems, preschools, day cares, homeschoolers and organized youth groups. Bring your class to our Pumpkin Patch, Flower Field or Christmas tree fields for a hands-on, educational field trip where learning comes to life. Students will get to plant their own Pumpkin or Christmas tree, pick one to take home, and enjoy a small, guided experience designed for fun and discovery. It's a memorable visit to a beloved local farm that’s been part of the community for generations
School Bus

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Time

Each field trip will take around 90 mins. Parent's and children are welcome to stay longer to play for a total of 120 min field trip. 

Schedule 

  • Once your group arrives your Lead Teacher will check you in at the red shed.  

  • Student's will be taken on a wagon ride tour, learning the history of our farm

  • Pick out their own pumpkin. Each student will be given a bag to carry their pumpkin in. 

  • Educational Experience

    • Student's will learn the history of pumpkins and how they grow​

    • Each student will get to plant a pumpkin seed. 

  • Play and enjoy games. 

Reserve Date

Field trips can be booked for any available date between:

September 24th and October 31st | Open Wednesday - Sunday

Tips

  • Wear good shoes and bring a rain jacket. The ground can get dusty or muddy depending on weather.

  • Bring sunscreen and water. This is an open field and it gets warm.

  • Bees love the flowers on our farm. If you are allergic to bees please be careful. They are generally happy pollinating flowers and won't bother anyone, but please be prepared just in case.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Plant a Christmas Tree Field Trip

Time

Each field trip will take around 90 mins. Parent's and children are welcome to stay longer to play for a total time of 120 mins. 

Schedule 

  • Once you arrive the Lead Teacher will check you in at the red shed. 

  • Your group will be given a seedling and a label to plant in our field. 

  • Student's will be taken on a wagon ride tour, learning the history of our farm

  • Educational Experience

    • Student's will have an interactive learning experience about the history of Christmas trees and how they grow​

    • Students can help plant a Christmas tree seedling that will have a label representing their school organization that will grow in our field.

    • Each student will get instructions on how to plant their own Christmas tree to take home with them. Students will be give a bag to carry their seedling.  

  • Play and enjoy games.

  • Educational Experience

    • Student's will have an interactive learning experience about the history of Flowers and how they grow​

    • Students will get to plant seeds in a pot that they will take home

    • Each student will get instructions on how to transplant their flower seed that they take home with them.

    • Students will be give a bag to carry their seedling.  

  • Play and enjoy games.

  • Student's will be taken on a wagon ride tour, learning the history of our farm

  • Educational Experience

    • Students will have an interactive learning experience about the history of Christmas trees and how they grow​.

    • Students will learn about the history of our farm. 

    • If group decides to cut down a tree, students will be able to help cut and carry the tree.  

  • Enjoy a free candy can, hot cocoa, or cider.

Tips

  • Wear good shoes and bring a rain jacket, and warm clothes. The ground can get dusty or muddy depending on weather.

  • We have workers available to help with carrying and processing the trees, however they are not allowed to put trees on or in cars or help tie down the trees for liability reasons. Please be prepared to tie down the tree or place it inside a vehicle. (We have twine available)

What forms of payment do you accept?

Can we add or decrease the amount of students after we booked a date?

Yes, of course. Please email mcmurtreyfarm@gmail.com to make change your reservation. 

What do we do if a parent is late?

We will do our best to catch them up to the group. 

Will there be enough parking for our school bus and parents?

Our parking capacity will be considered for each field trip booked. There should be ample parking for you and your group. 

Can we drop in for a field trip without a reservation?

All field trips are by reservation only.
